Julius Caesar crosses the Rubicon, kicking off the series of civil wars that ended in the rise of Augustus and the Pax Romana. This is one of the most well documented periods of Roman History and we know a great deal about the men whom these coins were struck under. Unfortunately most of them would not survive this turbulent period.
