Roman republic Æ Semuncia(5.50g), anonymous semilibral series. 217-215 BC. Head of Mercury right, wearing winged petasos / Prow right; ROMA above. Crawford 38/7; McCabe group AA; Sydenham 87; Russo RBW 100-102.

This relatively common coin is a type that many RR bronze collectors own, and on its own is an insignificant, average condition example of a common type, but this was the first RR bronze that I purchased in June of 2015. I had just read through the RBW catalogs, NAC 61 and 63, and was captivated by the gold, silver and bronze that made up the series, so much so that I immediately began selling my Greek and Roman Imperial coins so that I could focus entirely on this series that I had previously largely ignored.
