This series, and the related RRC 109 series, are generally referred to(e.g. by Crawford) as having a "knife". As Ted Blume-Poulton has pointed out, rather entertainingly, this is not a knife, but a falcata, a Celtiberian sword designed to allow strong downward blows. The Romans certainly encountered these in the Spanish theater of the Second Punic War.

Roman Republic AR Victoriatus(2.90g). Anonymous, second Falcata series, 206-195 B.C., Rome mint. Laureate head of Jupiter right; border of dots / Victory standing right, crowning trophy; falcata between. In exergue, ROMA. Line border. Crawford 120/1
