An early anonymous denarius from the anonymous sibling to the Anchor series, Crawford 50. This coin published on the Brinkman Debernardi website as the example for the type along with the forthcoming RRSC and Debernardi's paper on Crawford 44 and the origins of the denarius. Brinkman & Debernadi's group 6 contains two subvarieties - one with tufts on the back of the helmet, the other without. This is the former variety with tufts, the latter being the sibling of the Rostrum Tridens issue. The tuft-less variety is the one illustrated in Crawford.
